White Dextrine

White Dextrin is prepared by heat treatment in presence of chemicals to suitably modify characteristics and properties of starch. Unlike starch dextrin are soluble in water. The severity of the treatment determines the degree of solubility, which is the basis of classifying or grading dextrin.

Applications of White Dextrin

  • Textile Industry – It is used as textile finishing and coating agent to increase weight and stiffness of textile fabrics.
  • Pharmaceutical Industry – A thickening and binding agent in pharmaceuticals and paper coatings.
  • Firecracker Industry - A pyrotechnic binder and fuel; this is added to fireworks and sparklers.
  • Chemical and Dye Industries – It is used as a carrier in colour and dyestuff industries.
